Traveler’s Checks: In Nepal Traveler’s Checks are not accepted.

For Indian tourists, please note that Rs. 500 and Rs. 1000 currency notes are not legal tender in Nepal. However, you can carry and use Rs. 100 and Rs. 50 notes. Some Indian business owners may accept Rs. 500 notes, but they may offer a reduced exchange rate, giving you 20-30 rupees less than the full value.
